Sources & References

Where ATHVORA's health, nutrition and fitness information comes from — with links to each original source.

Last Updated: August 2026

01Nutrition Values

Calories, protein, carbohydrate, fat, sugar and fibre values for foods and drinks you look up or confirm in ATHVORA are retrieved from USDA FoodData Central, the United States Department of Agriculture's official food composition database (Foundation, SR Legacy and Branded datasets).

Typical portion weights for manually added foods are rounded from USDA household measures. When no confirmed database match exists, values shown are AI estimates and are labelled as such.

02Calories Burned Estimates

Energy burned for workouts and GPS activities is estimated with the standard MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) method: MET × body weight × duration. The MET approach and typical MET values for activities such as walking, running, hiking and cycling are documented in the Compendium of Physical Activities.

ATHVORA uses rounded, approximate MET values, so results are estimates and may differ from laboratory measurements.

03Exercise Library

Exercise names, instructions, target muscles and images come from the open-source Free Exercise DB project.

04Steps & Health Data

Steps and synced activity data come from your own device through Apple Health or Android Health Connect, with your permission. Distance, pace and routes for GPS activities are measured by your phone's location sensor.

05AI Coach & AI-Generated Guidance

Workout plans, meal plans, AI Coach replies, food photo analysis and progress photo descriptions are generated by AI. They are general fitness and wellness guidance and are not drawn directly from any single source listed on this page. Where nutrition values are confirmed against USDA FoodData Central, the app uses those database values.

AI guidance is not medical advice. See our Medical Disclaimer. For authoritative, general public-health guidance on physical activity and healthy eating, we recommend:

If the app detects you may be in distress, it points you to local emergency services and the international helpline directory findahelpline.com.
